I have been meaning to blog some of this shoot for awhile, but figured I would wait a bit until things had settled down in my schedule. January tends to be a slower month for many photographers so I figured some catchup on the blog was much needed.
Back in November I signed a contract with USA Today Sports Images to cover Clemson Basketball this season. Two weeks later I was offered a special assignment on former Clemson Football 1981 National Championship Coach Danny Ford. Unexpected, though Clemson being in the spotlight nationally all season meant unique stories and exposure for the program in a variety of national outlets.
The feature was about his life after the days of coaching Clemson to a national title. I was basically assigned to head out to his farm home and document his daily routine. Initially I thought this story would just run online, but it was quite a humbling surprise to find it the following day on the front page of the USA Today newspaper sports section. Here's a look at some of the extras on the shoot. Of course only a couple were used so I figured I would share a few of the others on here. A huge shoutout goes to Coach Ford for being so easy to work with! Thanks for taking a look!
